2000 Toyota Tundra Fuel Injector Parts Q&A

  • Q: How to Service and Repair a Fuel Injector on 2000 Toyota Tundra?
A: Service and repair of the fuel injector begins with cover removal of the throttle body along with fixing the intake air connector and fuel pressure pulsation damper. You must also place a shop towel beneath the delivery pipe while executing slow pulsation damper looseness. The first step requires users to detach the accelerator cable from the engine after which they should eliminate the accelerator cable bracket by unfastening its two securing nuts. Start by disconnecting the PCV hose from the PCV valve and then remove the connector and hose of the VSV for EVAP. Afterward disconnect the accelerator cable clamp along with removing the VSV from the intake manifold. You need to remove the throttle body cover bracket through a DLC1 disconnect followed by unbolting it. Disconnection of engine wire clamps from No.1 engine hanger and engine wire bracket and two wire clamps from the engine wire to the brackets on the RH delivery pipe must take place. Gently take out the delivery pipes and injectors while avoiding dropping the injectors and checking for any installed weight that might be on the injector. Beginning with the front fuel pipe, remove first the bolt which maintains the clamp on the fuel return pipe to the LH delivery pipe. Following this, remove the bolt alongside the 2 union bolts, as well as all 4 gaskets and the front fuel pipe, and disconnect the 8 injector connectors. Next, remove the 4 nuts retaining the delivery pipes to lower intake manifold, together with the 2 delivery pipes, 8 injectors, 4 spacers and 8 insulators. Each injector will require removal of its O-ring together with its grommet. After setting new grommets onto each injector you should moisten fresh O-rings with gasoline before installing them on each injector. When turning each injector, push it toward the delivery pipes before installing them one by one with their connectors facing outward. Position the lower intake manifold with 2 delivery pipes followed by the installer attachment of 4 spacers and 8 new insulators. Then fasten temporary 4 nuts to secure the manifold. The front fuel pipe must be installed with its bolt, 4 new gaskets, and 2 union bolts secured with torque at 39 Nm (400 kg.cm, 29 ft.lb) while the bolt should reach 7.5 Nm (80 kg.cm, 66 in.lb). Screw and torque the bolt which joins the fuel return pipe clamp to the LH delivery pipe to 7.5 Nm (80 kg.cm, 66 in.lb) and verify that injectors move without resistance while replacing O-rings (if needed). Install the delivery pipes to the lower intake manifold with a torque of 18 Nm (185 kg.cm, 13 ft.lb) while connecting all 8 injector connectors. The installation sequence begins by hooking 2 wire clamps from engine wires onto the RH delivery pipe brackets before binding the clamps to No.1 hanger and engine wire bracket. Afterward the engine wire protector installs with 2 bolts. The process includes PCV valve hose connection followed by VSV for EVAP connection to the upper intake manifold through the installation of accelerator cable clamp and VSV and subsequently attaching the EVAP hose and VSV connector. The installation begins with installing the throttle body cover bracket along with its bolt and then connecting the DLC1 while using two nuts at 18 Nm (185 kg.cm, 13 ft.lb) to secure the accelerator cable bracket to the engine. Afterward you should install first the fuel pressure pulsation damper alongside the intake air connector and throttle body cover.
